1.1 This standard specifies: a) Laboratory tests to establish manufacturing characteristics. b) The representative test method for falling object protection structures (FOPS1)). 1.2 Laboratory tests are a means of determining the characteristics of the structures used to protect the operator from deformations produced by localized impacts and, indirectly, the resistance to the loads applied to the structures that must withstand these impacts. 1.3 This standard establishes the repetitive procedures that must be used for the evaluation of the characteristics of the FOPS, under the action of loads, and prescribes the requirements required for them, when a representative test is carried out. NOTE- In this standard, the expression "representative test" means a test carried out on a model, whose materials, dimensions and manufacturing procedures are equivalent to those used in normally manufactured FOPS.
