The purpose of this standard is to describe a test method to determine the Shore hardness of plastics and elastomers using a durometer of types A and D. Type A is used for soft materials and type D for hard materials (see note in 8.2). The method allows measurement of initial hardness as well as hardness after a specified period of time.
