The purpose of this standard is to specify methods for measuring, with the greatest possible precision, some characteristics of standard condenser microphones, so that the exchange of information between testing laboratories can be based on clearly expressed results and reproducible. Although pressure calibration of condenser microphones is a general problem, this standard is limited to microphones generally called one-inch condensers. NOTES 1 These microphones generally have an outside diameter of 0.936 inches = 23.77 mm. 2 In the future, standards may appear for smaller condenser microphones.
