This standard describes a method for the determination of the iron content in lead by the atomic absorption technique. The method is applicable to iron contents between 0.001 and 0.01% by mass. The method can be easily applied to iron contents greater than 0.01% by mass by appropriate dilution of the solution corresponding to the test sample (see 6.1). In any case, it is important that the solutions to be analyzed and the solutions corresponding to the calibration terms are under similar conditions of acidity, lead concentration, etc.
