This standard is applicable to high voltage cables. It is intended to provide guidelines for the choice of conductor cross-section, insulation level and type of cables to be used in three-phase power frequency networks operating at voltages greater than 1 kV. It also includes the information necessary to make said choice appropriately. If there is no different explicit indication in particular chapters, the content of this standard will be applicable to all types of cables. Currently, only the case of alternating current networks is considered; that of direct current networks, may be the subject of a subsequent standard.
