UNE 49 401 h10 Technical characteristics of packaging paper and test methods for free chlorine molecules, chlorides, free acids, sulfides and sulfites contained therein
In certain papers, particularly those intended for wrapping metals, it is of great interest that they do not contain substances that could attack them. The presence of chlorine, chlorides or acids in paper makes it unsuitable for wrapping iron, steel or aluminum objects, in which it would cause the formation of oxides. Likewise, paper with sulfur, sulfides or sulfites, which were applied to wrap objects made of silver, copper or copper alloys, would cause corrosion due to the formation of sulfur compounds. The purpose of this standard is to indicate methods for the investigation of said substances in packaging paper.
