The purpose of this standard is to specify the appropriate test methods to determine the characteristics of high-pressure mercury vapor lamps, with or without red-correcting fluorescent coating, powered by alternating current and associated with a ballast that meets the requirements of the IEC Publication 262: Ballasts for high-pressure mercury vapor lamps. These requirements only contain type tests. Detailed prescriptions for the maximum space occupied by the lamp are also included as a guide to its design.
