This standard specifies the characteristics of samples of surfaces obtained through fusion and casting processes, for use by visual and tactile comparison with surfaces of parts with similar finishes, and produced by similar machining methods. The surfaces of the parts will have been adequately cleaned by shot blasting, sandblasting or tumbling.
