The purpose of this standard is to describe a method for gravimetric determination of the carbon content in ferroalloys and silicoalloys. It is applicable when there are carbon contents greater than 0.100%. Notwithstanding the above, if a suitably prepared apparatus is used and appropriate precautions are taken (see 10.3), it is possible to determine contents of up to 0.030%.
