Scope
The purpose of this standard is to establish a calculation method and give the criteria for choosing asbestos-cement pipes to be used in buried pipelines with or without pressure. This standard covers the most normal installation cases, that is, cases of buried pipes (see UNE 88-212 standard). When the pipeline is installed on discontinuous supports, suspended or other special conditions, appropriate calculation methods must be used, depending on the anticipated efforts. When applying this standard, a series of parameters must be selected that in some cases may not be known. The standard suggests a series of values that have been established empirically, so that the results obtained by calculation coincide significantly with those obtained in the tests carried out. It is up to the designer to choose the most appropriate values, carrying out, if deemed appropriate, the necessary tests to determine the real values of the aforementioned parameters. Once the stresses acting on the pipes have been determined, the safety coefficients to be used are recommended both in sanitation pipes (without pressure) and in pressure pipes. The safety coefficients for pressure pipes are established for the combined efforts due to internal and external pressure. The stages for choosing the tubes to use are: a) Determine the actions on the tube due to external and internal loads. b) Determine the demands to which the driving is subjected. c) In sanitation pipes: Choose the series according to UNE 88-201 standard that complies with the established safety coefficient. d) In pressure pipes: Choose the tube whose resistance to crushing and whose burst pressure meets the established safety coefficients.
