UNE 26-397-1989 Motor vehicles. Engine antifreeze and refrigerant. Determination of chloride content in sulfhydryl-containing antifreeze and refrigerants
This standard specifies the way of determining the chloride ion in antifreeze and engine coolants in a concentration range of 5 ppm to 200 ppm, and the presence of mercaptobenzothiazole with concentrations not exceeding 0.6% by weight. Other additives or chemical compounds that react with the silver ion interfere with the method. By this method, the chloride content of antifreeze and engine coolants that contain other aryltriazoles instead of mercaptobenzothiazole can be determined, without prior treatment with hydrogen peroxide.
