This standard sets out some criteria for choosing the nominal voltage and the nominal section of the cable that must be used, as well as its level of insulation in relation to the service voltage of the electrical system. These criteria are indicative in nature and should not, in any case, replace the responsible evaluation that must be carried out taking into account the safety of service and the economic convenience appropriate to the effective or foreseeable conditions of each particular installation. To determine the most appropriate type of cable for a given installation, it will be necessary to take into account what is stated in the first part of this standard.
