Scope
The purpose of this standard is to define the characteristics and properties that must be met by aqueous film-forming agents intended for fire extinguishing, providing methods for verifying their properties and effectiveness, being applicable only to this type of agents. . In addition to the definitions and classification of the agents, it deals with the following aspects:  ——Characteristics, temperature limits of use and stability of the concentrated agents. - Characteristics of the solutions and their foams. - Tests to determine the effectiveness in extinguishing hydrocarbon fires. - Tests to determine the effectiveness of polar liquids (alcohols, etc.) in extinguishing fires, in the case of agents that also have this application. The procedure for determining compatibility between two agents is also indicated in the annex.
