This standard establishes the specifications of three different types of glass instruments, without a built-in thermometer, intended for the precise determination of the alcoholic titer of simple mixtures of ethanol and water, according to the following classification:
——type 1: graduated alcoholometers in volume percentage of ethanol at 20 °C;
——type 2: alcoholometers graduated in mass percentage of ethanol;
——type 3: areometers for alcohol graduated in density units (kilograms per cubic meter) at 20 °C.
