The purpose of this standard is to construct a classification guide for materials and give standard values for the characteristics relative to each subgroup (type) of materials, determined based on the test methods described in the second part of this standard, and which is suitable only for the specimens described for these tests. The numerical values determined for these properties cannot be applied to specimens or products that have other shapes or dimensions, or come from other manufacturing processes.
