This standard proposes the procedures for calculating the heat transmission between a fluid inside a piece of equipment, apparatus or conduit and the outside environment in order to determine the minimum thicknesses of thermal insulation to be used, with one or more of the following purposes:
——reduce heat losses or gains of the heat transfer fluid to save energy;
——limit the surface temperature to a minimum value to prevent the formation of surface condensation;
——limit the surface temperature to a maximum value for safety reasons;
——prevent the formation of ice in the heat transfer fluid. This standard is applicable to pipes and devices in air conditioning installations intended for the well-being of people and for the preparation and distribution of water for sanitary uses.
