- This standard specifies the design, manufacture, inspection, acceptance, storage, installation, basic parameters and dimensions of metal bellows expansion joints (hereinafter referred to as "expansion joints"). This standard applies to steel pressure vessels, steel shell-and-tube heat exchangers and non-reinforced single-layer or multi-layer U-shaped expansion joints for atmospheric pressure vessels. Pipeline expansion joints can also be used as a reference. For expansion joints applicable to this standard, the design pressure is not greater than 6.4MPa, and the design temperature range is determined according to the allowable service temperature of the steel. This standard does not apply to expansion joints for pressure vessels heated directly by flames.
