Scope
"General This Allied Publication: a. provides guidance to the designer on the requirements for control and pre-selection of materials for military applications@ on the basis of their fire characteristics@ to ensure that only suitable materials are fitted in military vehicles and equipment. The ""Pre-selection of materials"" is considered to be the initial part of the design/selection process@ used to screen candidate materials for a particular application@ to rank reaction-to-fire properties. b. identifies and describes the main reaction to fire laboratory type tests (small scale tests) that may be required@ highlights their shortcomings and limitations in relation to a real fire situation and recommends designers to exercise care in making judgements from the test results. c. defines the format of common data sheets for incorporation into national databases of fire test results and the method by which participating nations will record and share fire test data (see Section 0)."
