This standard specifies methods of analysis for technical alkanesulfonates. It includes the following determinations:

——determination of free acidity or free alkalinity;
——determination of the matter that is extracted with petroleum ether;
——determination of the total alkanesulfonate content;
——determination of the alkanemonosulfonate content;
——determination of sulfite content;
——determination of sulfate content;
——determination of chloride content; It also contains the following annexes: Annex A - a general outline of the analysis; Annex B - determination of the total salt content. This standard is applicable to technical alkanesulfonates in the form of powder, paste or liquid, free of any product foreign to their manufacture.
