This standard specifies a method for the identification of rubber-type polymers based on the examination, by infrared spectroscopy, of both their pyrolysis products (pyrolyzed) and films obtained from their solutions. The annex includes some typical spectra. Infrared spectroscopy that uses attenuated total reflectance is not included. 2 The principle of the method requires that the sample preparation and the preparation and analysis of the infrared spectrum be carried out by specialized personnel, and that the equipment used to obtain the spectra be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, to achieve optimal results.
