INTRODUCTION The purpose of these tests was to determine the effects of drilling mud and drilling-mud additives on the setting time@ thickening time@ and strength of oil-well cement slurries. Since the drilling muds commonly used in the field are complex chemical mixtures@ the scope of this report is limited to the indicated quantitative effects of the individual mud additives on the setting-and thickening-time properties of the cements tested.
