1.1.Test Method A – Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (1 H NMR) measures polymerized ethylene oxide (EO) in ethylene oxide-propylene oxide polyether polyols used in flexible urethane foams and nonfoams. This method is suitable for diols containing greater than 5% EO. For triols and initiators that are not oligomers of ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, an uncorrected EO value is obtained.
1.1.Test Method B – Carbon-13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (13 C NMR) measures the polymerized EO content of ethylene oxide-propylene oxide polyether polyols used in flexible urethane foams and nonfoams. This method is suitable for diols and triols made from commonly used initiators and containing EO percentages above five.
