Scope

This standard specifies the meaning and detection methods of the metallographic structure, effective hardened layer depth, surface and core hardness of steel automotive carbonitrided gears. This standard applies to gears with an effective hardened layer depth greater than 0.3mm. This standard is used for gear quality inspection after completing all heat treatment processes.
